Assisted reality loads the virtual objects and uses in real-time, while virtual reality put together, the virtual objects and real scene.

A little complicated if we will start discussing with the definition of virtual reality and assisted reality.

"VR and AR will eventually converge, and smart glasses will take over our interactions."~Carlos López (Founder @ Oasis)

What is a assisted reality?

So let's take an example to study about assisted reality, we all have navigation apps in our smartphones. So let me remind you again how it works, it actually locates the navigator's location compared to the known location and gives the proper direction and instruction to reach that place. Automated way finding frequently relies on GPS for present position details, a navigational synonym of roads, map-finding routes, uses a set of instructions related to the shortest path problem to spot favorable routes. So what here the app is actually doing it loads the virtual objects and uses in real-time, and this only is what we called assisted reality. In this case, roads and buildings are the virtual objects which are taken in a real-time environment.

Often, we get a little confusion between augmented reality and assisted reality as they have almost the same features but augmented reality is different as it renders the 3D objects in real time into your eyesight, for this the best example is Microsoft hololens.

What is a virtual reality?

Let's take another example, watching a movie using 3D glasses, so let me remind you what actually is the use of a 3D glass, it creates the illusion of three-dimensional images by restricting the light that reaches each of your eyes. So what here the glass is doing rather than putting together,  the virtual objects and real scene, it places the user inside an experience. Where it vitalizes the senses such as touch, smell, vision, and hearing that is what we call virtual reality. If we look at the word "virtual" it means something that exists in essence but not in actuality and the word  "reality" means a thing that is actually experienced, not just imagined which clearly explains you about what exactly virtual reality is. As said by a very famous person-

"The believability of virtuality is often superior to the unrealness of reality." ~ Vineet Raj Kapoor

Now we are going to look out for more examples of assisted and virtual reality.

Examples of assisted reality:

Heads-up displays as used in fighter jet cockpits to give information to the pilot within their viewpoints.

Windshields of newer high-end cars which are more functional and intact than other cars windshield.

Skylight, are the most efficient for smart glasses as it helps the person using it to work safely and has many other features if we connect it with wifi, now you can also share pictures and other files.

Head-mounted tablet

which is more than a tablet and more than a glass which has a large number of efficient functions such as 100% handsfree, dust tight, drop proof, waterproof, effective audio quality.

Google glass is a type of smart glass which is an optical head-mounted display. It has an ambient light sensor, accelerometer, gyroscope, magnetometer, proximity sensor, and microphones help in giving the voice commands.

"virtual reality is the 'ultimate empathy machine.' These experiences are more than documentaries. They're opportunities to walk a mile in someone else's shoes."~Chris Milk

Examples of virtual reality:

• Virtual reality headsets such as Oculus Rift and Gear VR from Samsung, they have sensitive sensors which follow your head movements and positions.

• A virtual game, with a headset known as "VIVE" which was put together by HTC and valve.

360-degree cameras or virtual reality cameras, that easily be able to record in all directions.

3D cinema which is used in various sectors such as sporting events, pornography, fine arts, music videos and short films.

• In robotics, virtual reality has been played a vital role, which is used to control the robots, which are designed to perform in the compound and unsure environment.

Youtube virtual reality, which is a type of virtual reality where we are able to discover many features such as the latest dynamic videos, virtual reality videos dubbed in 360°, virtual reality vehicles and the list goes on.

"Some people call this artificial intelligence, but the reality is this technology will enhance us. So instead of artificial intelligence, I think we'll augment our intelligence."~Ginny Rometty

How virtual reality and assisted reality to differ from each other?

As both virtual reality and assisted reality contains the word "REALITY" which can be "EXPERIENCED" not just "IMAGINED", though they have a big difference between them. Let us take another example to explain the difference between them and the best example is video games, so there are two types of video games we play, the first one is we play the game without any virtual reality headset, simply with our eyes, but in the second type of video game, we use a virtual reality headset to play it.

So what is the major difference between these two types of games?

We can observe clearly that in the first case only the game is based on animation, and we can see the animated characters moving moreover, we are imagining the situation created. But if we put a light on the second case hereafter wearing the virtual reality headset we undergo an experience, a restorative environment is been made around us so, here we experience more than just imagining the animated character moving.

Conclusion

In this technology-based world, assisted reality and virtual reality plays a very important role. The upcoming technology is mainly based on assisted and virtual reality, so they have very high scopes in the coming future. Industries are opting for virtual and assisted reality-based technology as they're highly efficient, reliable and create a better experience for the consumers. Many projects have already been started based on this concept and assumed to be lead to great results. The idea such as Samsung gearVR, Epson movario and google cardboard are moving ahead in the race of the reality-based world but there are many other ideas such as Meta, Avegant Glyph and magic leap which can leave you dumbstruck with their extent of captivation. And hence there is much more to discover in this field.
