To maintain emotional health, positive thoughts are must. Mental illness is due to the presence of negative aura around you, avoid negativity take an optimistic approach to deal with the situation and maintain your emotional health in a good way.

For a basic definition health is the ability of a biological system to acquire, convert, allocate, distribute, and utilise energy sustainably but in 1948 WHO provided a pure definition of being healthy which clearly states that it is "a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity". The definition is particularly pointing out that a person is fully healthy when the person is in a state of complete physical and mental well-being. Health is not just about the body it is about having superior physical and mental state.

Indian population perspective on mental illness

When your emotional health is good there are lesser chances of you having any kind of mental illness. But in India, most of the population doesn't care about their emotional health. Around 47% people indicate higher judgements against people having a mental illness. So, the Indian population is broad-minded when it comes to emotional health.

We are full of positive thoughts but there are times where negative thoughts overcome positive thoughts. And these thoughts trigger in us corresponding positive or negative emotions. We've been always taught that we should control our emotions and emotions aren't meant to be shared. We know there is personal space that each of us wants but suppressing our emotions is like avoiding, and then they grow as a negative energy. Negative energy gives birth to low self- esteem and lowers the enthusiasm.

Today, we are not talking about depression or anxiety we are talking about the roots of this problem which is nothing but your own thoughts and surroundings. Negative surroundings give birth to the problems like depression and anxiety. Due to this people start having issues with being in a good emotional health, think about their existence and have negative thoughts, which lead to Suicide.  This problem is on the rise and alarming for the certain age groups.

The graph specifically shows that the age group of 15-29 is more likely to commit suicide than other age groups.

"Doctors are at an incredibly high risk for mental illness, Female doctors have up to four times the risk of suicide in comparison to people in the general population." ~Dr Clare

According to a report by World Health Organisation in 2014, South-East Asia Region, the estimated suicide rate is the highest as compared to other WHO regions. Suicide rates show a peak among the young and among the elderly. It is observed that most of the suicide cases occur in the South-East Asia Region where there are 39% in low and middle-income countries in the South Asia alone and India was accounted with the highest number of suicide cases overall in 2012. So, now the question is what are the causes that are so brawny which it forces a person to commit suicide.

Negative thoughts are the root cause of all the problems related to emotional health. This is the time when you know that you need to maintain a good emotional health. We've come across some ways by which you can ensure that you're emotionally fit and fine.

Feel your emotions

Where there are emotions there is a feeling too. No matter how you feel- good or bad- you should feel the emotions that coming through your thoughts. There are lots of activities that you can do to feel your emotions. For example, There is always that one pace in your house where you feel peaceful and calm. Sit in that quiet and calm spot, try to recollect all your thoughts in the past few days and feel. Feel that moment. This will try to enhance all your emotion that you are hiding- anger, sorrow, guilty- from all.

Accept

Acceptance is a very crucial stage. Once you've accepted that you have certain emotions and start to feel about that emotions you have to accept that these are your emotions. When you will try to accept things you will soon find out things and situations aren't so difficult once you accept it.

Talk

Talking about your feelings is the only way to maintain a good emotional health. When you know what you are feeling now it is the time to talk about it. It is important to talk about your feelings because when you are in that situation your state of mind doesn't allow you to think positive and telling people will act as a support system for your emotions.

Be optimist

Once you start accepting your emotions and feelings there are chances of things getting worse as the emotions will flow from the bottom of your heart whether it is aggression or over-love and the thoughts will be most of the time negative. But it is there where the hard part begins. One has to overpower the negative thoughts over positive thoughts. If the roots of the problem are negative the fruit will be negative similarly, when your thoughts are starting with negative thoughts your surroundings will start creating a negative aura around you. Be optimist and should remain in the surroundings with good vibes and good thoughts.

Conclusion
